I am working on a stock video download site. Since I need different resolutions of the same video I think child products is what I want. But where is the download link. I don't see it in the downloads section.

I feel stupid now . That feature already available in virtuemart 1.0.13a no need to upgrade...

Yep child products are standard within VM. My mod enhances it's functionality by allowing a list to be displayed.

In my downloads section it is childlist!! Not that difficult to find

I downloaded your childlist mod. IT works but I have made so many changes to the virtuemart files to make it look and work the way I want and everything breaks. I did not even keep of track of things I modified. So is there any way I can know what codes you added for the childlist mod so that I can just add those codes to the files.

It would take an age to list all changes. I fundamentally change the way the cart works, it would be easier to work out your changes and apply them to my code; not the other way round. 13 files have been altered, some of them majorly!

I think you are right. I will do that. I had a different implementation of more images and this child list changes that. Can you please tell which files were modified for the more images to show up in the product details page. I have more images where there is a single big main image and when you click more images the popup gallery appears. The problem is I forgot which files I modified.

The mod I have just changes shop.product_details.php but others could change other files!

My mod for more images has a separate file for childlist users.

Thank you macalf, now I have implemented the childlist feature without breaking my old hacks. Where the css that defines how the child list are presented in the main prodcut details page of the parent prodcut. I wanted the name of the child product to be bold and align few things and add indent. I looked at shop.prodcut_details. I found this code

$addtocart = "<form action="". $mm_action_url."index.php" method="post" name="addtocart" id="addtocart">";

Does the id addtocart defines the style for the list. maybe not.. can you help me.


Another thing is I also want to give some video for free but the user has to go through the payment process. I think your "Bypass Shipping & Free Downloads 1.0.13" mod is the solution for me. But I don't need the bypass shipping part and I only need the free download.IS this free mod long one too...

Individual parts of the childlist mod are not css aware!! The file you need to look at is ps_product_attributes.php

I'm sorry but I can't pull apart a mod to just provide one part of it. Lets face it, a free download means free shipping!!

Thank you macalf, I figured out the differences in the files and edited it. IT works great. But there is a problem after you order for free product and click view order details instead of the download link it says: "Order Items
You have already downloaded the file(s) the maximum number of times, or the download period has expired." my max download was set to 3 and expire period was 48 hours.

wouldn't it be great to directly give the download link rather then sending the email even for the free product. Do you know of any hacks so that the user is directed to the page where the download link is given, instead of sending an email. Lots of users have asked the question in the virtuemart forum but I didn't see a single answer.
