I would figure out, how show the type parameters as a little icons, as seen on your site?

Stay in the plants example

Type: "keeping"
Parameters "sunny" and "shady"

I would use a little icons as value of the parameters:
SUN image for the "sunny"
CLOUDS image for the "shady"

How can I do that?

So here is the extension, which use the type as its flypage.

But, I dont know how to connect the type and the parameters with the icons, and where shouls I put the flypage file and the icons as well!

Please help, I am sure that it would be useful for tons of us!

The flypage goes in ../administrator/components/com_virtuemart/templates

the icons go in ../components/com_virtuemart/shop_images/product which in this case are png's

the product type when set up has a field for the flypage, enter the file name.

The fields would be the name of the icon without the extension and the value set would be yes or no.

Has simple as that!

You ment the bottom of the config page of the "probetype" type page? (I did as the same way as use to on the category page)

Sorry I cant follow this... You mean that the icon should be named "parameter1_yes" and parameter1_no" ?

My main questions are:
What should I put into my product flypage (I am using your great extension!) ?
Should I modify the type fly_extension code?

Flyextension: fly_type.php placed in the administrator/components/com_virtuemart/html/templates/
Icons: in the components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/ (but not sure about the names... )

The parameter names follow the icon names e.g.

new_product.png field name new_product
Downloadable.png field name downloadable

Fairly easy to follow.

So in your case the icon for your field type would be parameter1.png

To add this to your flypage you would have a new parameter of {probetype}

I put the parameter1.png to the referred place

and put the {probetype} tag to the product flypage, but nothing appears.

maybe you misunderstand me (I wasnt clear enough...sorry but its hard to explain, because I couldnt understand exacly the working of the type fly extension file... )

So how does the icon know that parameter1 = yes or no ?
I mean if the value of the parameter1 = no which icon would be loaded?

I would try to make my problem clear now:

1. I set the types and the parameters in the admin place
2. Make the icons due the parameter values (parameter1_yes.png and parameter1_no.png ? )
3. What should I put to the product flypage AND the type flypage ? (using your product type extension)

After we make it success, I would make a tutorial about it, which can be attached to the extension! I would be glad to help your work!

It's not a yes or no to display different icons.

If the parameter is 'yes' the icon is shown, if it is 'no' the icon is not shown.

The idea was that if a certain parameter was set then an icon would be displayed to show that is was set.

If it was not set then nothing would be displayed.

The tag would go into your product_details flypage, not the product type flypage, it would go with all the other tags such as {product_name}, {product_s_desc}, {addtocart} etc.

In one of my sites, for images, I would have parameters of landscape, wildlife, macro, etc. If the parameters were set to 'yes' the icons would be shown one after the after.

But I cant get this working...

So I attached my product_flypage and the type_flypage.

I used the {probetype} tag in the product flypage, the type flypage is unmodified.

So my product type details:

probetype - type
parameter1 - parameter (text - "yes;no" the values)

The parameter1.png icon is (just for sure) in the ..../shop_image/ and the ..../shop_image/product/ folder

So I discover something strange! With this setting in the IE broweser there is a blank.gif in the place of the icon! with its description! but with FF there is nothing...so I think we are heading to the correct direction...and almost there....

I just realised the problem! It has been a long time since I worked with this.

The icons have to go in ../shop_image/product_type/ You will have to create the sub_directory.

and your icon file should be icon_parameter1.png according to your site.
