I installed the Bypass module and setup a downloadable product with 0 purchase value. The email with the purchase order is sent to the customer but not the downloadable link. The order status still is Pending. The error I've got in the forefront is

That is because the error checking ststus on your site is too high.

I can't remember off-hand how to change it, but it is not normally displayed. It's just a notice message!

If the email is sent without the download link, check the order status from the main menu(In the shop front, not the backend. The area where a user can change their account details check orders etc). If it has a download link here then there is a problem. If there is not then it is normally because you have not enabled downloads in the vm config.

Today I tested with joomla 1.0.12 and the code goes directly to the last step (confirm order) without asking the shipment address and consequently no mail is sent to the customer and no link to download the file is generated.

The error message is not an error message! It is a notice message, most live sites have notice or warning messages turned off by default.

This would happen even without my mod if the price is 0.

I will state again, have you enabled downloads in the main configuration? If you go into account details for a user in the vm frontend is there a download link. THIS IS IN THE VM FRONTEND, you should also see a link to download on the vm module. If you do not see either of these then downloads are not enabled and my mod won't work.

Yes, since the beggining I enabled downloads, disabled shipping methods and set up a product with 0.0 price at the VM backend.

When the customer adds only that product to the cart and starts the checkout procedure, VM ask for shipping info, skips the payment info and requests the order confirmation. It is exactly the same that without your module. Then he receives an email with order details but without the download link.

In the VM backend the order status is "pending". In the users VM front end the order status is "pending" and there is no link to download the file in the detailed view of the order. When admin changes in the VM backend the order status to "confirmed", the customer receives an email with the link to download and also could see it in the VM customer front end. It is again the same with or without your module.

Finally I do not know how to eliminate warning or notice messages in the front end.

Have you more than 1 payment method enabled? If you have you need to download the replacement checkout.thankyou.php file in the downloads section.
